Unique educational programs for exciting learning experiences.
Primary Educational Experience
At Rainbow of Knowledge Elementary School, you will find that a great deal of work goes into creating a program that caters to your child's individual needs.
Not every student is “at grade level,” which is part of the beauty of a multi-level classroom. Students can navigate through our system easily, being placed in different “groups” in their classrooms based on their ability, not their grade, and not feel “greater” nor “lesser” than any of their classmates. Our teachers do a terrific job balancing several learning styles within their respective classrooms. We use a blend of small group learning, hands-on learning, project learning, discussion learning, as well as traditional text book group and individual learning. Manipulatives are used whenever possible to help students grasp new concepts more quickly.
Field Trips / On-Site Events
We do our best to provide our students with a variety of experiences outside the classroom to supplement our program and enrich their learning and their lives.
Take a minute to think back on your own elementary school experience. I'm sure some of the first things that come to mind don't revolve around a chapter in your science book, nor a long history lesson. Your fondest memories probably include what you did at recess with your friends, a special project you partook in, or if you were lucky enough, a special field trip. There are several studies out there that show how beneficial school field trips are to students; offering reasons such as how they provide students with real-world, multi-sensory, learning experiences. Many believe field trips can awaken a student's interest and enthusiasm in learning if they are struggling in a typical classroom setting (or even if they aren't)! We honestly didn't check any of these studies to see if we wanted to implement field trips to our program. In fact, we've been using field trips as a learning tool since well before many of these studies even began. At Rainbow of Knowledge Elementary School, we do our best to provide our students with a variety of experiences outside the classroom to supplement our program and enrich their learning and their lives.
Some people have assets to share with our students, but no place for us to go to see them. For this reason, we also offer monthly On-Site events to enhance our learning at school. We invite all sorts of people to come talk with, entertain, and educate our students right here on our campus. From a Mad Scientist to a world-renowned yo-yo expert, a harp player to a snake specialist, we invite them in to help our students learn more about the world around them.
Community Service Learning
At Rainbow of Knowledge Elementary School, we believe in the importance of giving back to the community.
Each year, we do our best to work with our students to help them understand the need to help the greater world around them. We help local organizations like Sacred Heart, Second Harvest Food Bank, and the Equine Rescue Center; national organizations such as Best Friends, and even world-wide groups like Adopt a Reef or Adopt an Acre, as well as many others. We feel that such actions benefit children in a number of ways, such as teaching them a sense of responsibility for more than just themselves. We strongly believe that the earlier you can help a child learn that there are others in the world, the better citizens they will become. We're also big believers in the importance of empowerment at our school, so what a great message to our students: that they're powerful enough to influence someone or something in a positive way.
Mindfulness / Yoga / Meditation
In school, researchers have identified how the power of mindfulness can improve students' abilities to pay attention, and more!
Mindfulness. It's one of those “buzzwords” floating around these days, but not everyone understands its meaning. Simply stated, mindfulness means paying attention to what is happening around you at any given moment. There are thousands of studies out there explaining why it's important for people of all ages to be mindful. In school, researchers have identified how the power of mindfulness can improve students' abilities to pay attention, help students learn to calm down when they are upset, and ultimately make better decisions for themselves. At Rainbow of Knowledge Elementary School, we practice mindfulness every day, and we have been doing so for over 30 years! Some of the ways we achieve this is to meditate daily together as a school, practice EFT Tapping, discuss how people in the world may or may not be mindful in different situations. We've also employed a yoga teacher to come work with our students twice a month on campus. (Yoga is a great tool that people can use to stay grounded and mindful in their everyday lives.) We believe that the more tools such as these we can provide our students, the better off they'll be out in the world.
School Community Time
At Rainbow of Knowledge Elementary School, we take the time to gather everyone together every single day, for meditation, encouragement, and exciting discussion about all kinds of topics!
During school Community Time, we gather everyone together for conversation and connection. During this time we will get centered (a form of meditation for kids), and simply gather to talk about a wide range of topics of importance to us all. The subject matter can range from issues in the world, our country, our town, or even our school. This time is used to be serious when needed, and to have fun as well (like trying to guess who is going to win the Super Bowl each year). As with most things we do, we do our best to get our students to see that there are personal lessons for them all over the world; life for them is about so much more than the academic lessons that they learn in school. We remind them that they have choices to make every single day, and like a ripple effect, these choices affect those around them. So we encourage them to make positive choices whenever possible, then sit back and benefit from the results of those choices. And on those days when they goof (just like the rest of us at times) and make a bad choice, we try to use these as teaching moments and give them tools on how to handle things differently next time. One of our principal's favorite expressions is, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” There is a lot of negativity in the world, if you're not careful where to look. So we do our best to teach our students to look for the positive in any given situation, and we devote a portion of our day to do just that, during our School Community Time.
Summer Camp / Extra Curricular
We implement a wide variety of exciting extra curricular subjects during the school year... and offer an active and engaging summer experience with field trips too!
Summertime fun! We implement a wide range of subjects during the school year, but there are several fun activities that we don't always have the occasion to explore... until we get to our Summer Camp program! Rainbow of Knowledge's Summer Camp is a terrific place for your child to spend their summer. We go on weekly field trips to all sorts of fun places, devote some time each day to academic review work, and enjoy weekly themes of all sorts! We play team games, have contests and challenges, and sometimes just sit around and sing songs together. It's a great way to spend your day, and our teachers look forward to this change in programs every year.
When it comes to extra-cirricular programs... We know how busy life can be here in the heart of Silicon Valley, so even though we are small, we are always on the lookout for ways to enrich our students based on their wants and needs, and the desires of their parents. We currently offer Yoga twice a month, weekly tutoring for students of all ages, as well as guitar lessons by one of our teachers. Having these enrichments here on campus makes it easier for our parents to involve their children in activities they like or need. In the past, we've had everything from karate, fitness, gymnastics, dance lessons, and even a chess club!

My son has been attending this school for 2 years now and we are truly impressed by how far along he has come both academically and socially. It is a great school...
...that provides excellent, attentive, fun loving teachers along with a great culture and environment. We highly recommend this school.
The student to teacher ratio is amazing! Awesome school and staff! I really enjoy how much we can be a part of our kiddo’s school with all the monthly activities.
Chris and Kacie Pompa
This school has been a miracle for my family. It has an excellent student-teacher ratio, so every student receives the attention that they need - whether they need extra help...
...or need to be challenged beyond their grade level. The staff is absolutely superb - always happy to discuss our ideas and do everything that they can to support the children both academically and socially.
Once you enter the school you right away feel a comfortable, safe, and nurturing environment so rarely found in larger schools. From the decor, to the building layout, to the well cared for pets, this school feels a lot like a home.
It is important to note that, compared to other private schools, this school is very much affordable. In fact, it costs little more than the after school program alone in the public system.
